Municipal Government Collaborates with Civil Associations to Improve Universal Accessibility Projects

Ciudad Juárez, Chih.- Derived from a joint session of the Public Works, Urban Development and Economic Development Commissions, representatives of the Municipal Government and councilors will work with civil associations in the socialization of various universal accessibility projects.

The meeting took place in the meeting room of the Municipal Institute for Research and Planning (IMIP), where representatives of Villa Integra and the Neighborhood Network were present.

Councilor Jorge Gutiérrez Casas, coordinator of the Public Works Commission, commented that these are seven projects focused on adapting certain parts of the city so that people with disabilities have greater pedestrian flow and that citizens in general have greater security in them. .

He pointed out that this meets the requests and concerns of civil society, since it is expected that this year 40 million pesos will be executed for this item, for which the General Directorate of Public Works is already working on the preparation of technical projects that will be executed.

The general director of Urban Development, Claudia Morales Medina, explained that the agency under her charge worked on the preparation of projects and drills to meet the social and infrastructure needs to implement accessibility works in sections of main and secondary roads.

“These are projects that were born from citizen requests and by instruction of President Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, work began on them, which have already been channeled to Public Works to determine their feasibility and adjust them to the budget program,” said the official.

Among the proposals is the modification of infrastructure, placement of pedestrian crossings, bollards and Pompeian in sections of roads such as Teófilo Borunda, Puerto Dunquerque, Lote Bravo, 5 de Febrero, Calzada del Río, as well as the area of ​​Kilometer 20 and Riberas. of the Bravo.

Also present at the meeting were councilors María Adame, Joob Quintín Flores, Cecilia Reyes Castro and Tania Maldonado, as well as the director of Planning and Evaluation, Emilio Flores, among other attendees.
