Mün: Regional Council renovates the retaining wall on the L 123 near Spielweg between Münstertal and Wieden – construction work on the first section begins on June 13th

The regional council of Freiburg (RP) is renovating an approximately 250 meter long retaining wall on the L 123 in Münstertal-Spielweg (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district) in two construction phases. Construction work on the first section will begin on June 13 and is expected to last until the end of the year. During this time, the affected section of road will be closed on one side. Traffic will be guided past the construction site by traffic lights. The speed in the construction site area is limited to 50 kilometers per hour. The execution of the second construction phase is planned for 2023.

As reported by the RP, the retaining wall made of natural stone was rated 3.5 in a building inspection. This means that it is in need of renovation and must now be extensively renewed. As part of the refurbishment, the entire structure will be repointed and grouted. In the future, the stability of the retaining wall will be guaranteed by micropiles, the heads of which lie behind the inside of the wall and are integrated into newly created concrete seals. The renovated wall itself then takes on no or only a small part of the load acting on the road and the slope. With this procedure, the appearance of the existing wall can be fully preserved.

The cost of the first construction phase is around 780,000 euros. The RP commissioned the company Bau-Sanierungstechnik GmbH from Gernsheim with the construction work.
