Mumford & Sons guitarist Winston Marshall finally leaves the band after a fuss | Stars

entertainment">Marshall announces via the platform that he will not return at all because he wants to be able to give his opinion without the band suffering. “My band members will only get in more trouble if I speak out about what turned out to be such a controversial issue. My love for them and my loyalty and responsibility to them cannot allow that,” the British guitarist writes about his departure. “I could stay and continue to censor myself, but that will affect my sense of integrity. Gnaw my conscience. I have already noticed that.”

entertainment">The guitarist sees leaving the band as the only way to continue. “I hope that by taking a step back I can continue to say what I think without them feeling the consequences. I leave with a heart full of love and wish these three boys nothing but the best. I’m sure their stars will continue to shine well into the future.”

entertainment">Anti-fascist activists

entertainment">Marshall came under fire for tweets addressed to right-wing activist and writer Andy Ngo. The guitarist wrote that his “important book” Unmasked wanted to read.” Unmasked is about how Antifa, a loose movement of anti-fascist activists, wants to radically destroy democracy. Marshall apologized after an outcry. “Over the past few days I have come to understand better the pain caused by the book I spoke about,” said the musician at the time.

entertainment">Marshall is co-founder of the British folk rock band. He did that in 2007 with Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane.
