Mumbai: Vidarbha are struggling to beat Mumbai’s huge score in the Ranji Trophy cricket final. At the end of the fourth day, Vidarbha were 248 for the loss of five wickets. With five wickets to spare, Vidarbha still need 290 runs to overtake Mumbai’s score.
It was Karun Nair who put up significant resistance in the Vidarbha line-up. He was dismissed for 74 runs off 220 balls. Openers Atharva Thaide (32), Dhruv Shure (28), Aman Mokhade (32) and Yash Rathore (7) also returned. Captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Akshay Wadkar and Harsh Dubey (11) are at the crease with 56 runs off 91 balls. Tanush Kotian and Musheer Khan took two wickets each for Mumbai. A wicket for Shams Mulani.
Vidarbha won the toss and sent Mumbai into bat. Vidarbha managed to end Mumbai’s first innings on 224 runs. Yash Thakur and Harsh Dubey took three wickets each to restrict the Mumbai innings to 224. Umesh Yadav took two wickets. Shardul Thakur’s innings of 75 runs took Mumbai past the score of 200.
Vidarbha, who were batting in reply, could not shine that much. All returned within 105 runs. Yash Rathod was the top scorer with 27 runs. Dhawal Kulkarni, Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotyan, who took three wickets each, made things easy for Mumbai.
After that, Mumbai started the second innings with a lead of 119 runs and showed a strong batting performance. Musheer Khan’s record breaking century performance (136 runs) helped Mumbai to a huge score. He scored 418 runs for the loss of 10 wickets. Shreyas Iyer (95), captain Ajinkya Rahane (73) and Shams Mulani (50) also shone for Mumbai. Harsh Dubey took five wickets and Yash Thakur three wickets for Vidarbha.
