Mülheim an der Ruhr. Nice success for the Mülheimer Sportbund (MSB): The MSB came fourth among the city sports federations in the 2022 sports badge competition of the North Rhine-Westphalia state sports federation. 1600 children, young people and adults passed the “Fitness Medal” in Mülheim an der Ruhr last year. In relation to the number of inhabitants, this corresponds to a rate of 0.93 percent.

Only the city sports associations of Hamm (1.35 percent), Münster (1.30 percent) and Krefeld (1.19 percent) were even better. A total of 23 city sports associations took part in the competition in 2022.

“The sports badge is still very important in Mülheim. After schools in particular had to severely restrict or even stop their activities related to the sports badge in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona pandemic, they were finally able to push them ahead again last year. Numerous clubs also manage time and again to motivate a number of members to take the relevant tests,” says Klaus Stockamp, the assessor for sports badge matters on the MSB board, happily.

Gundula van der Locht (Mellinghofer TV) and Werner Adelmann (DJK-VfR Saarn) achieved an outstanding performance last year: both received the German Sports Badge for the 55th time. No one from Mülheim an der Ruhr has managed this before.
