MSI announced that it will provide a new one-key cooling and overclocking function for its various Intel 12th-generation Core and 13th-generation Core motherboards. Compared with the traditional one-key overclocking, the priority is to maximize performance. Key overclocking will seek a mode that maximizes the current pulse at low voltage, so that players can enjoy overclocking without complicated settings, and at the same time do not have to bear the extended problem of generating a lot of waste heat after overclocking. And although MSI’s products benefiting this time are mostly high-end chip motherboards such as Z790 and Z690, among them, MAG B760M MORTAR MAX WIFI, MAG B760M MORTAR MAX WIFI DDR4 and MAG B660M MORTAR MAX WIFI DDR4 that belong to the MAG series also get new automatic overclocking BIOS. In addition, MSI stated on its official website that there are still several mainboard BIOSes being tested, and more product support will be released in the future.

According to MSI’s explanation, since the B-series chips have enabled memory overclocking since B660, but because the B-series motherboards lack the mechanism to disable IA CEP, the preset voltage of the motherboard seems to be too high, resulting in an increase in the waste heat generated by the CPU. ; Theoretically, because different processors have different optimal voltages, too low or too high will cause extension problems, especially if the voltage is too low, it will cause system instability.

The B-series chip does not have the ability to overclock the CPU, and it also lacks the CEP overload protection function. If the voltage is lowered, it will not only cause system instability, but also cause CPU performance to drop. Determine the voltage that can maintain performance and stability as the setting, resulting in B-series chips with 13th generation Core processors prone to high voltage and temperature problems; the new BIOS will use MSI’s new OC engine to provide one-key cooling and one-key Overclocking function, for B series motherboards, using one-key overclocking can slightly increase the performance by about 2.5% on the premise of only slightly increasing heat generation, and using one-key overclocking can reduce the execution temperature by 5 to 6 degrees.
