“International Industry” Intel rumored to add 1 billion US dollars to expand packaging and testing investment in Vietnam

According to two people familiar with the matter, Intel (Intel) is considering a substantial increase in the company’s existing US$1.5 billion investment in Vietnam to expand its chip packaging and testing plant in the country. The potential new move could be worth $1 billion, one of the people said. Another person said the investment could be made in the “next few years” and could even exceed $1 billion. However, one person also said that Intel is also considering investing in Singapore or Malaysia, but Vietnam may be preferred. Intel’s latest response to the report stated: “Vietnam is an important part of our global manufacturing network, but we have not announced any new investments.” On Wednesday, a statement on the Vietnamese government’s official website was amended to remove references to Ho Chi Minh City’s attempt to attract an additional $3.3 billion in investment from Intel. Intel’s packaging and testing plant in Vietnam is located in the commercial center of southern Vietnam and is Intel’s largest packaging and testing plant in the world. It is understood that the company has so far invested $1.5 billion in the plant. Intel already owns additional land where the factory is located, one of the sources said. And the expansion of factories in Vietnam will help avoid dependence on a single country.
