Mr. Jokowi, please LADI be fostered

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

In the midst of euphoria, Indonesia won again Thomas Cup, the absence of the red and white flag on the podium became an obstacle to make netizens ask the President Joko Widodo investigate thoroughly and fix the root of the problem.

In contrast to Denmark, Japan, and China, which took the podium with a graphic background of the flags of their respective countries, the Indonesian players and coaches were accompanied by a graphic background of the PBSI logo.

This is related to the sanctions from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which assessed that Indonesia did not comply with the doping test program.

No national flag makes netizens not entirely happy. In uploading footage of Indonesia’s victory over China which was confirmed by Jonatan Christie from Jokowi’s social media account, not a few netizens regretted and complained about the Red and White flag.

Netizens also asked Jokowi to solve the problem so that the Indonesian flag could fly again in international sporting events.

“Pak Jokowi, please fix Indonesia’s anti-doping agency, sir, so that the Red and White can fly,” wrote one netizen in the comment column.

Warganet also brought along the WADA institution, the Indonesian Anti-Doping Agency (LADI), and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in their complaints after Hendra Setiawan confirmed Indonesia’s 14th title in the Thomas Cup. Some even asked Jokowi to reprimand Menpora Zainudin Amali.

On October 7, WADA declared Indonesia to be one of the non -compliant countries in implementing the doping testing program.

WADA also stated that Indonesian athletes cannot fly the Red and White flag other than at the Olympics. Indonesia is also considered ineligible to host regional, continental or world championships.

In addition, representatives from Indonesia also do not qualify for positions as board members in a sports committee.

Not only Indonesia, similar sanctions were also given to Thailand and North Korea.
