Since July 20, commissioners Bart De Wever (N-VA) and Paul Magnette (PS) have been working on a new federal government. According to De Wever, they already have “a bubble of five” (PS, SP.A, CD&V, CDH and N-VA), but they still need at least one party for a majority in the House.
At Open VLD they want to, but not at any price. “The liberal family is available to start negotiations on this in order to form a government with the three classic political families (liberals, socialists and Christian Democrats, ed.) And the N-VA,” said party chairman Egbert Lachaert. Message between the lines: Open VLD and MR cannot be separated.
