MPs raise their salaries. Senator KO: Let’s not be played by PiS, let’s not be their hostages | Policy

386 MPs voted for salary increases for MPs, ministers, premiere i President. 33 against, 15 abstained.

The amendment was, inter alia, against Klaudia Jachira from the Civic Coalition. In a Twitter post, the MEP briefly presented her position. “I can support the bill giving rise to the highest officials, including MPs, provided that thanks to this, officials of the power camp will stop robbing the state by creating mafia structures, such as the purchase of masks, respirators, the construction of Two Towers or the SKOK scandal. ? ” – she wrote.

Franciszek Sterczewski from KO, who agreed with Donald Tusk’s comment, was also against it. The former prime minister pointed to the fatal moment of introducing such increases. “Full agreement with Donald Tusk. That is why I am against, which I also recommend to other colleagues from all parliamentary clubs” – wrote Sterczewski.

Krzysztof Bosak with Confederationwhich the entire parliamentary circle was against, disagreed primarily with the increase in subsidies for political parties. “While raising the salaries of some officials (e.g. ministers and deputy ministers) can be discussed, proposing ‘now’ a 50% increase in subsidies for the party, with the present gigantic disproportion between the parties, is completely untenable. Shame on POPISLDPSL!” – he wrote.

The case on TVN24 was also commented by Senator of the Civic Coalition Jacek Bury. – Those who have devoted their entire lives to politics should be properly rewarded, but let’s not get played out Law and Justice, let’s not be their hostages, people who are gullible. At a time when Poland is on the verge of a great crisis, let us not incite the people who voted for us – he said.

Pay rises for MPs. “Not when people lose their jobs”

Journalists also comment on the matter extensively. – The worst possible moment has been chosen to give a raise – Jacek Nizinkiewicz from Rzeczpospolita also told TVN24. – I believe that parliamentarians, ministers and the president should earn more and these raises, quoting Beata Szydło, were due to them. But not now, not at the moment when people are losing their jobs, they feel insecure, the recession is ahead, the situation in the economy can be very worrying – he added. As the journalist stated, the opposition “behaved strangely”. – They could not vote, Law and Justice would vote these increases anyway, so why at this point? – he stressed.

A row in the Seym. Kaczyński calls the opposition a rabble

Igor Sokołowski from TVN24 drew attention to a similar aspect. “The United Right would have no difficulty in voting on a parliamentary salary increase alone. The opposition would then have an excellent reason to criticize the rulers … and at the same time a fuller wallet. This political helplessness is astonishing,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I would even praise the deputies for having the courage to raise their own and other rulers’ salaries, which are more and more modest in their eyes, but also the scale of the increase, and taking it at random, under the cover of holidays, practically without debate, makes a rather unattractive impression” – comments Konrad Piasecki.

The Sejm has adopted an act on salary increases for parliamentarians

The proposal adopted by the Seym assumes that the president will earn more than twice as much as now, i.e. approximately PLN 26,000 gross a month. The prime minister’s salary will increase from PLN 11 to about PLN 22 thousand. The salaries of deputies will increase by PLN 4.5 thousand and will amount to over PLN 12 and a half thousand gross.

The amendment to the act also introduces a salary for the first lady, who is to earn almost PLN 18,000 gross. Until now, the president’s wife has not received any salary for the first lady.
