AS Roma achieved a dramatic victory in the 1,000th game of Jose Mourinho in his coaching career. Mourinho then revealed a lie in the special game.
Roma vs Sassuolo took place at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian League continued, Monday (13/9/2021) early morning WIB. The Giallorossi got a dramatic 2-1 win.
Roma took the lead in the first half through Bryan Cristante’s goal. Sassuolo then made it 1-1 in the second half through Filip Djuricic.
Stephan El Shaarawy dedicated a wonderful evening to Roma fans as well as coach Jose Mourinho. He scored in injury time to seal the win.
Mourinho immediately ran behind the Sassuolo goal. There the Portuguese coach participated in celebrating a goal with his players.
“During this week I was a liar, saying it wasn’t a special game. In fact it was a special game,” Mourinho told DAZN.
“It was a special match for me and I always want to remember a match like this for my 1,000th game. I lied to everyone!”
“It could have ended 6-6, 7-7, (Roma goalkeeper) Rui Patricio came in with two miracles, we missed some goals. Great game, great emotion.”
“Today I am not a 58-year-old man, but a 14-year-old, when you start dreaming of a career in football. I ran like a kid and I apologize to (Sassuolo head coach) Alessio Dionisi, they played a fantastic game.”
Roma currently sit at the top of the Italian League standings with nine points after sweeping the first three games. AC Milan and Napoli stuck behind because they only lost on goal difference.
