Most “foreigners” live in these countries

Within Europe, there is a big difference between the various countries in terms of the percentage of residents of foreign origin. In some countries it is no more than 2% as opposed to almost half elsewhere. The latest figures from the OECD show major differences.<!– –>

37 developed countries are members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). In Mexico, Poland, Japan and South Korea, up to 2.2 percent of people were born in another country. At the other end of the spectrum are internationally oriented countries such as Luxembourg and Switzerland. In Luxembourg, even 47.3 percent of the inhabitants are non-Luxembourgish. Although that is not explained, it seems to us that it is due to the mild fiscal climate.

Remarkable: countries such as France and the US are below the OECD average of 13.8 percent. And Belgium? Relatively few people who were born in another country live here too. With about 12.7 percent of the population born abroad, we are just below France.
