Most e-shops violate the regulations, CTIA inspections have shown

“The results of the inspection confirmed that there is a constant high number of violations of consumer rights in the area of internet sales,” said the CTIA director Mojmír Bezecný. The balance of controls is roughly similar to the same period last year.

This year, the Inspectorate found a total of 278 cases of violations of the Consumer Protection Act. “Shortcomings persist, especially in the provision of complete information on products and services. Sellers often resort to unfair business practices, ”added Bezecný.

However, the inspectorate points out that although a problem was found in almost 87 percent of inspections, it is not a real reflection of the state of online trading in the Czech Republic. It continues to carry out inspections after prior monitoring and selects sellers with a possible problem assortment.

“These include, for example, the sale of toys, the sale of products suspected of infringing certain intellectual property rights, and the sale of textile products with suspected foreign language descriptions of material composition,” the CTIA said.
