Almost 140 thousand times owners of electric vehicles parked their vehicles in paid parking lots for free in 2023, which is 1.5 times more than a year earlier. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the State Public Institution “Administrator of the Moscow Parking Space” (AMPP).
“As Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Transport, said, the development of infrastructure for electric transport, as well as free parking for electric vehicles, helps to increase the number of electric cars, improve the environment and preserve the health of the capital’s residents. One of the advantages of electric vehicles is free parking on the streets of Moscow,” the message says.
The deputy mayor clarified that in 2023, drivers took advantage of this opportunity 137 thousand times, which is 51% more than a year earlier. Most often, electric cars such as Moskvich 3e, Tesla Model 3, Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model Y were parked for free.
“Street parking in the city is free for electric vehicles, with the exception of parking lots with barriers. Their owners also do not need to pay for charging at Moscow Energy stations or pay transport tax. Such measures help encourage drivers to switch to electric vehicles and improve the environmental situation in the city,” concluded Liksutov.
