Morocco: Publication of a guide for resuming cultural activities

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports -Department of Culture- has just published a guide accompanying the resumption of cultural activities, including preventive measures for the management of the post-confinement health phase.

The development of this guide is part of the support for the measures taken by the public authorities to deal with the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) and in accordance with the circular of the Minister of Economy and Finance and of the Administrative Reform n ° 04/2020 of May 22, 2020, relating to the procedures and measures of return to work in public establishments, indicates the ministry.

The procedures stipulated in this guide, which can be downloaded from the ministry’s website, aim to ensure the protection of civil servants, employees and users of the various departments and establishments under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, at central level, regional and local and organizations operating in the fields of culture, youth, sport and communication.

This guide has been developed, in consultation with professional public and private partners, in particular the National Museums Foundation, the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Mohammed V National Theater, the Archives of Morocco, the Federation of Cultural and Creative Industries, the Moroccan Society for Tourist Engineering, and the Moroccan Institute for Standardization, specifies the ministry.

Aimed at public and private managers of the cultural sector and the general public, the guide details the good practices to be implemented in the various cultural establishments and activities, in particular historic monuments, archaeological sites, public and private museums, centers of of heritage, public and private libraries and media libraries, open or closed performance spaces (theater, music, dance, festivals, street arts, circus), exhibition spaces and public and private art galleries , music and dance conservatories, private art education and events institutions.

The Ministry points out, moreover, that the resumption of activities must be done gradually in compliance with health and safety rules, as well as according to the schedule determined by the competent authorities.
