Morocco. A new protocol for the management of Covid-19 cases

The Ministry of Health has established a new protocol for the management of Covid-19 cases. Some of the cases will be followed at home.

According to the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet “The Covid-19 case management protocol only concerns asymptomatic cases that do not represent any clinical signs and people who respond to a number of conditions, such as the absence of risk factors such as advanced age, chronic illnesses, pregnancy and breastfeeding

This home care process applies to people who meet favorable conditions for self-isolation, including a well-ventilated single room and the absence of vulnerable people living under the same roof. The care decision must also take into account the patient’s opinion and his predisposition to assume this alternative.

The protocol was adopted after a number of findings and field data that revealed that a large portion of asymptomatic cases refuse to be treated in a hospital setting, since they have no clinical signs. and that they are doing well.

For them, they are not sick and it is very difficult to convince them to take care of the hospital, explains the health manager.

Pressure relief on hospitals

Faced with this finding, the scientific, technical and advisory committee of the Ministry of Health for the management of Covid-19 recommended that people without clinical signs can be taken care of at home while complying with the guidelines of all international organizations.

This approach will make it possible to ease the pressure on establishments and various hospital structures and to satisfy a great need emanating from this category.

The general objective is to take care of them, treat them and avoid any contamination of people attending patients, added Mr. Mrabet.

The last assessment of Wednesday, August 5, Morocco recorded 1,283 new cases of infection, in the last 24 hours.

This new report brings to 28,500 the number of contaminations since the first case reported on March 2. There are 19,994 people who have fully recovered. That is to say a cure rate of 70.2%.

The death toll has risen to 435 (+18 new deaths) in the last 24 hours and the cumulative incidence rate is 78.5 / 100,000 inhabitants.

Five regions recorded 94% of new cases. Namely: Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Fès-Meknes, Marrakech-Safi and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra. Casablanca, Fez, Tangier and Marrakech have recorded two thirds of the cases.
