More US dead in one day, Glasgow climate summit postponed

Airline British Airways is expected to suspend approximately 36,000 employees, the BBC writes. British Airways, like many other airlines, has grounded aircraft because of the corona crisis. By suspending these employees, the company temporarily does not have to pay them a salary. No one is expected to be fired.

Ground and cabin crew and headquarters employees would be affected. British Airways has been negotiating with the union for more than a week, but according to the BBC, an agreement has now been reached and only a few details remain to be signed.

The employees who are suspended would be paid part of their wages through the government job retention scheme. That arrangement means that 80 percent of a person’s salary will continue to be paid, with a maximum of £ 2500 a month.
