More than half of the target population have already completed their COVID-19 vaccine schedule

The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) delivered on Tuesday the weekly report on the progress of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Costa Rica.

According to the data provided by the institution and analyzed by Delfino.cr, during the previous week (fortieth campaign) 318,088 doses of vaccine were applied, which represents a slowdown in -21.72% compared to the thirty-ninth week when 406,322 doses were applied in one week. The slowdown occurred despite the Vaccination from the CCSS, to which more than 300 thousand people were absent pending their first dose.

In total, the CCSS reports 5,596,495 doses of vaccine as placed of the 6,352,755 that have been received by the country (88.09%). Of the doses placed, 3,407,214 are first doses (60.88%, +132,753 new) and 2.189.281 they are second doses (39.12%, +185,335 new ones).

At age range of 58 years and older, made up of 817,906 people, 1,509,213 doses (+6970 new ones) have been placed, of which 763,429 correspond to first doses (+4893) and 745,784 are second doses (+2077). Thus, 93.34% of this age group have already received the first dose, and the 91.18% already received the second.

In the age group of 40 to 57 years, made up of 1,124,875 people, 1,692,085 doses (+98,181 new) were placed, of which 959,987 are first doses (+31,312) and 745,784 correspond to the second (+80,555). Thus, 85.34% of this group have already received the first dose and the 66.30% you already have the second.

In the age group of 20 to 39 years, made up of 1,733,463 people, 1,963,832 doses (+179,308 new) have been placed, of which 1,344,276 are first doses (+81,807) and 619,556 are second doses (+97,501). 77.55% of this group already have the first dose and the 35.74% already received the second.

Finally, in the age group of 12 to 19 years, made up of 601,140 young people, 431,365 doses (+33,629 new ones) have been placed, of which 339,522 are first (+14,741) and 91,843 are second (+18,888). Thus, 56.48% of this age group already have the first dose and the 15.28% you have already received the complete schematic.

The group that received the most new doses last week was made up of people between 20 and 39 years of age, with 56.37% of the total of the new vaccines applied; followed by the 40 to 57-year-old group with 30.86% of the new doses.
