The federal official presented to the head of Segob, Olga Sánchez Cordero, the changes to the institute’s headquarters, as well as the modernization of the procedures carried out by foreigners in our country.
During the tour of the facilities, Garduño detailed the acts of corruption in which the INM agents were immersed, and that when they were captured on video, “The majority” decided to separate from their post.
“There were people who distributed chips, 300 chips and he kept 20, the one who arrived at 11 am they sold those tokens for 300 pesos; then a total corruption action, 20 tokens of 300, three for two 6 (a thousand pesos a day), in five days, in five days … that’s why they wanted to be in those places. Then more than one thousand 40 public servants who were in the institute have had to resign or have submitted to the comptrollerMost of them have resigned because we have a camera system in all stations, there is a 24-hour monitor and that’s where we find out ”.
The commissioner assured that this new administrative vision also raises eradicate the collusion of public servants with managers or “coyotes” in immigration procedures.
He mentioned that it seeks to serve a population of 4 million foreigners, as well as “end the era of paperwork and start the era of digitization”; In this sense, he explained that it is expected that in a maximum of 60 days it will already operate in its entirety “in order to give an attentive, humanitarian, friendly treatment to foreigners in our country.”
During the presentation it was reported that the INM is responsible for more than 400 thousand annual attentions on 29 different immigration procedures, which in 2019 generated a collection of 765 million 878 thousand 13 pesos.
It was also announced that the immigration authority is moving towards the integration of a National Migration Registry with information on all operations carried out by migrants, nationals and foreigners, during their entry, transit and exit through the national territory.
INM officials indicated that the Mexico City representative office, where the administrative modernization process began, reduced the number of delayed procedures by almost 100 percent.
In 2019, 115 thousand 488 procedures were carried out in that office, that is, 462 per day, which represents 27.84 percent of the national total; In the Chiapas representative office, 60 thousand 399 procedures were registered (15.56 percent) and in Quintana Roo, 39 thousand 453 (9.51 percent). These three entities cover 52.91 percent of the national demand.
In his opportunity, Sánchez Cordero recognized that the INM was “a disorder in the attention and administration.”
“This image of our country abroad, this institution of the Mexican State is, without a doubt, one of the most important and transcendent. The security that a person gives to have an immigration document and be regularly in our country; the legal security also provided by her immigration status for everything, for her work, for her children’s school, for her own personal development and that of her family ”, she added.
