more than 47 thousand new daily cases – O Jornal Económico

The United States accounted for more than 47,000 new daily cases of infection with the new coronavirus on Tuesday, according to Reuters, noting that this is the biggest daily peak since the beginning of the pandemic. Doctor Anthony Fauci, a government infectious disease specialist, has already warned that the number could double very soon.

After the confinement took effect in March, in all 50 American states, the deflation has already started but not everything goes as the mayors intend. California, Texas and Arizona are just three examples of states that have become the new epicenter within the United States, with a significant increase in new cases emerging every day.

“Clearly we have no control,” said Fauci in the US Senate, adding that he is “very concerned because the situation could become very bad”. The head of the Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases admits that the number of new cases can reach 100 thousand daily if the population does not make the right decisions and protect itself.

“We cannot focus only on the areas that are experiencing outbreaks. This puts the whole country at risk, ”explained Anthony Fauci. Without guarantees of a functional vaccine, the infectious disease specialist was hopeful that vaccines might already be available in early 2021.

In June, Covid-19 cases doubled in 10 US states, with major outbreaks of infection in Texas and Florida. In many hospital units in these states, beds available in Intensive Care are beginning to become scarce due to the increase in cases of serious condition, particularly among young people.

Some states that make up the United States, namely New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, are imposing mandatory 14-day quarantine on states experiencing outbreaks. Currently, ten US states, including California, Texas and Florida are the most visible on the list.

More than 128,000 Americans lost their lives to Covid-19, more than 2.6 million were infected and more than 825,000 recovered from the virus. Millions of American citizens lost their jobs due to the pandemic and the economy contracted in the first quarter, having entered into recession last February.
