More than 3,600 children from vulnerable areas will receive tablets to continue their studies | News

A total of 3,643 families in vulnerable situations from different regions of the country will receive the donation of electronic tablets from the NGO World Vision Peru, which adds to the Government’s strategy to deliver these technological devices and facilitate access to the “I learn at home”.

The commitment is to join forces to expand access and support non-dropout from basic education for girls and boys in the context of the health emergency caused by covid-19.

In the first stage that begins this month, 1,322 tablets will be delivered to families from Ayacucho, Huancavelica, La Libertad, Cusco, Áncash and Lima. The tablets include applications to access “I learn at home”, GPS to track its proper use, blockers to protect inappropriate content and World Vision Peru educational programs: digital reading, recreational activities and access to virtual classrooms; as well as digital platforms to promote tender parenting and reduce violence in the home.

The executive director of World Vision Peru, Sandra Contreras, reported that the donated tablets have the same characteristics as the devices delivered by the Ministry of Education (Minedu). In addition, they include data so that beneficiary families can connect to the Internet.

“At World Vision we believe that every girl and boy should have the same opportunities, even more so to study. For this reason, we are committed to donating these tablets so that they can continue learning by having all the information they need at their disposal. We also work with families, especially mothers and fathers, so that they take advantage of this tool in the education of their children, but with great responsibility, ”said Sandra Contreras.

He indicated that the delivery of the devices benefits families whose children have not been favored with the tablets that Minedu has been distributing.

The devices also include the applications (app) “Protection: Gaming and APPrendo”, developed by World Vision Peru, which teaches students through games to know their rights and play an active role in identifying situations of violence of which they may be victims. and learning to ask for help; as well as Worldreader’s Booksmart, with more than 250 books for kindergarten and elementary school students, which helps improve communication skills, among others.

This delivery is part of the work that World Vision Peru develops to provide vulnerable girls, boys and adolescents access to education, technological inclusion and pedagogical proposals, with an approach that allows them to develop learning capacities, autonomy, citizenship, communication skills, economic entrepreneurship and socio-emotional support.

World Vision Peru is a humanitarian aid, development and justice promotion organization, dedicated to working with children, families and communities to reduce poverty and injustice. (https://worldvision.pe/).
