The whole Moselle experienced a strong thunderstorm on Saturday August 21 between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. The rain gauges of the stations in the south of the department measured between 15 and 25 mm: 15 in Metz Frescaty, 25 in Corny-sur-Moselle, 20 mm in Metz Nancy Lorraine.
Ahead of the storm, very strong gusts were recorded around 9:54 p.m. in Metz Nancy Lorraine, with winds at 120 km / h. Some damage, such as fallen trees, was observed on this frontal storm line going from Pagny-sur-Moselle to Metz Nancy Lorraine.
Pea-sized hail also fell in some localities.

Lightning: Saint-Avold very affected
On the lightning side, Keraunos indicates that the Moselle recorded 3,482 impacts, the Meurthe-et-Moselle, 1,023 impacts, the Meuse 2,083 impacts. That is a total of 6,588 impacts.
In detail, 88 impacts in Saint-Avold, 62 in Bazoncourt, 49 in Meclués and Metz, 40 in Novéant, 38 in Fleury, 37 in Laquenexy and Louvigny, 26 in Cheminot and Corny, 24 in Augny, Fey and Gorze, 22 in Marly and 21 in Jouy-aux-Arches.
