More than 208.6 million vaccines against COVID have been applied in Mexico – El Financiero

It is estimated that the total older people in our country there are 89 million 484 thousand 507 of which 81 million 080 thousand 071 have at least one dosewhich represents 91 percent of Mexicans in this age group.

While the age group from 12 to 17 years old is 13 million 331 thousand 565 people; however, only 6 million 967 thousand 582 have at least one vaccine, which represents the 52 percent of Mexican minors are vaccinated.

The total number of people over 18 years of age who have received their third dose is estimated to be 53 million 063 thousand 583, this means that booster coverage in the country is 66 percent.

Today a total of 135 thousand 131 doses were considered lost, for not being applied.

COVID vaccination for children from 5 to 11 years old in Mexico

The undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell announced that is in talks with Pfizer to continue vaccinating children under 12 years of age, since Mexico 10.5 million COVID vaccines are available, so doses will be needed to the group of 5 to 11 years.


“Formal conversations for this contracting have already begun and we estimate that we have a quantity of Pfizer vaccine in the specific formulation for girls and boys from 5 to 11 years of age still to be specified,” he said.
