More than 151,000 candidates take part in the general baccalaureate exams


Dakar, Sept 2 (APS) – Some 151,647 candidates are working from Wednesday across the country on the tests for the general baccalaureate exam, APS has learned from the Bac Office.


The number of candidates enrolled in the general baccalaureate is 151647, of which 126631 are literary candidates or 81.64%, 621 Franco-Arabic candidates or 0.40%, and 25016 candidates in Science, or 16.42%.


The general Baccalaureate examination session 2020 is of a novel nature. It is held in September whereas it was usually organized in July.


One of the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic which has not spared the school world, notably disrupting the school calendar.


Schools were in particular closed for more than three months by the public authorities as part of the implementation of response measures to the spread of the new coronavirus which appeared in the country from March 2.


Schools were subsequently reopened in June to allow students in examination classes to complete the school year.
