More than 100 million tikkies sent and paid | Money

The ABN Amro payment app was launched in 2016 and is now fully established. In 2021 we paid each other more than €4.2 billion in money via the app. On average we ask each other for €38.74, which is more than €3 more than last year. More than one in three (37%) is paid within five minutes.

Social developments are clearly reflected in the descriptions that were entered with the tikkies. Compared to 2020, the words ‘winter sports’ and ‘carnival’ were almost no longer used in 2021. The word ‘skating’ does.

We send most of the tikkies for ‘food’ or ‘groceries’.

The busiest days for tikkies were Monday, June 28 and Friday, June 25. That was the weekend that almost everything in the Netherlands opened and the Netherlands also played the eighth final in the World Cup.
