More than 1/3 of the employees ready to resign to escape the face-to-face

French employees have taken the fold of hybrid work and no longer wish to go back. The use of collaborative platforms and tools, which is on the rise in companies, greatly influences this desire.

For this return to school under the sign of economic recovery, the Slack platform is publishing a survey about employees’ perceptions of their post-pandemic working conditions. More than 1000 office workers were questioned on topics such as the winning tools for remote work, the feelings about the face-to-face return, the feelings about the management of the crisis by their employer. . Here is what emerges from the “OpinionWay Poll for Slack” survey.

The new standard of hybrid work

Back to school 2021 in France: 50% of the employees questioned now work in hybrid work in the usual way, meaning that they alternate between telework and face-to-face work. 38% of them are perfectly satisfied with this situation and absolutely do not plan to return to the 100% face-to-face model. These same 38% are even ready to quit if their employer asks them to go back. This figure rises to 57% for employees under 35.
It may seem surprising, but the survey carried out on “ Ask a Manager In the United States reveals that employees across the Atlantic have the same desire to remain in hybrid work and are just as ready to resign if their employer refuses (source at the bottom of the page).

Flexible hours and personal life in the spotlight

In the Slack-Opinion Way survey, the main advantages put forward by new hybrid followers are work-life balance for 24% of them and flexible working hours for 25% of them. However, several disadvantages are raised by hybrid workers: in particular a feeling of isolation during teleworking days (27% of respondents), a loss of the quality of communication (27% of respondents) and a loss of productivity (17 % of respondents).
These drawbacks were more particularly felt during a period of successive confinements among the employees of large companies with more than 2,000 employees.

New tools to satisfy hybrid work

Along with these data, the breadcrumb trail of hybrid workers is (unsurprisingly) digital with massive use of technology. For 16% of respondents, the crisis has led their company to integrate new tools into their organization, which are proving to be more effective. The productivity gains induced by the use of this software are evident among large teams: 31% of respondents working in a team of more than 10 people observe productivity gains linked to the new tools, compared to 19% of respondents working in a team of less than 10 people.
Let us underline a few caveats: 11% of the employees questioned admit to having encountered difficulties in using this software, regardless of team size, and for 11% their company has integrated unnecessary software.

Collaborative platforms in the spotlight

In general, collaborative platforms, the most popular technologies in business, allow both videoconferencing, interaction in the form of instant messaging and document sharing with the possibility of modification in real time.
34% of respondents use a platform at least once a week and 14% daily, this figure rising to 47% for respondents under 35.
Employees of the largest companies (workforce between 100 and 500) are more particularly adept at instant messaging for the office, with daily use rising to 63%.

Technologies perceived as a success factor in emerging from the crisis

Consequently, for the employees surveyed, these platforms helped their company to face the crisis and to emerge from it, by maintaining efficiency at work (80% of respondents), organization and collaboration between teams (78% of respondents). respondents). 43% of employees appreciate the flexibility of work provided by these new digital tools, and 36% the flexibility of working hours, and 31% the stimulation of collective intelligence generated by them.
In the end, for a majority of employees, the company emerged as a winner from the health crisis thanks to technologies (31%), thanks to social ties (30%), management and culture (26 and 27%) and transparency in communication (20%), while wishing to maintain or even develop these technologies.
