More tax income, less personnel expenses – Glottertal

Glottertal’s municipal council deals with the 2019 annual financial statements / investments are primarily being made in the expansion of Fhrentalstrasse.

. The municipality of Glottertal closed the 2019 financial year with an increase or a contribution of around 120,000 euros from the administrative budget to the property budget. Thanks to the good result, the per capita debt in the core household was reduced by 24 to 453 euros per inhabitant. As of December 31, the total debt – including the water supply and sewage disposal operations – amounted to around 2.9 million euros, which corresponds to a debt of 918 euros per inhabitant. Last year 1.37 million euros were invested, primarily in the expansion of Fhrentalstrasse.

The improvement in the financial situation was mainly due to additional income from taxes in the amount of over 450,000 euros, with trade tax in particular booming with an increase of 400,000 euros compared to the planning. Property and trade tax as well as the share of income tax accounted for 49 percent of income. The next major revenue item was key allocations at 19 percent.

1.23 million euros were spent on staff, that is 16.5 percent of the expenditure. It was possible to save 92,000 euros compared to the plan. In the previous year, 33,000 euros more had to be spent on staff. The savings resulted from vacancies in the municipal building yard and in the financial administration.

The figures were prepared and presented by the municipal clerk Svenja Birkle, the financial officer for the municipality of Glottertal. She called the conclusion “a significantly better result” than the planning. Mayor Herbstritt recalled the lively investment activity: The three largest projects were Fhrentalstrasse, the expansion of childcare and the construction work in the building yard. Thanks to the additional income, it was possible to dispense with borrowing and even repay loans, so that the household debt was reduced.

Losses of 24,000 euros (wastewater) and 21,700 euros (water supply) were recorded in the wastewater disposal and water supply operations. 180,000 euros were invested in the expansion of the sewage network and 78,000 euros in the water network. Loans of 270,000 euros had to be taken out for the in-house sewage disposal operation. With the debts of the own companies 361,000 euros (water) and 1.12 million euros (sewage), the total debt of the municipality adds up to 2.9 million, that is 918 euros per inhabitant (2018: 870 euros).

In their statements, Christoph Maier (Freie Whler) and Claus Vorgrimler (CDU) praised the positive year-end result. Maier called the plus in tax revenue “really good”. In his opinion, the coming year will be financially difficult and he is expecting “exciting” budget discussions. “If you invest, then something happens in the community,” explained Vorgrimler. He sees the church on a good path.

The council members unanimously approved the submitted financial statements.
