Nationwide, the number of scab infections has doubled since last year. The GGD has seen an increase since 2013, but it’s never been bigger. While in the past it was mainly students and young adults who were affected, it now appears that not a single stratum of the population or age group is spared. Not even in Limburg: “We also see scabies ‘normally’ in households in a house and other places where people have physical contact with each other,” said a spokesman for GGD South Limburg.
