More profit Philips, orders hit hard by scrapping US order

Philips has had a good third quarter. The company did good business with equipment for the treatment of corona patients, such as ventilators and monitors.

The company’s turnover increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year to nearly 5 billion euros. Net profit also rose sharply, from 208 million to 340 million euros. In the preceding months, turnover and profit still decreased.

It is clear that the company has been hit hard by it delete of a large order by the US government. It would purchase 43,000 respirators from Philips until the end of the year, but at the end of August it became clear that a large part of the delivery was interrupted.

The Americans purchase 30,000 fewer devices than planned. This leads to a decrease in the total number of orders with Philips of 18 percent, according to the quarterly figures. Excluding this order, the number of orders increased by 3 percent.
