More money agreed for daycare centers in Berlin

Berlin (dpa / bb) – Around 2800 Berlin day-care centers receive more money for their work. In the next four years, an additional 500 million euros will be spent on the quality of care, material equipment and personnel costs, as the education administration announced on Monday. The state, the central associations of the League of Free Welfare Care and the umbrella association of Berlin children’s and schoolchildren’s shops have agreed on this.

According to this, the budget is to grow gradually to 2.5 billion euros annually by 2025. This corresponds to a share of around seven percent of the entire Berlin state budget. Around 35,000 daycare workers and 165,000 children in care benefited from the agreement, it said.
