Moravia will be hit by strong storms. It threatens in the Czech Republic on Monday, meteorologists warn

The warning against strong thunderstorms with a low degree of risk applies from today’s 14:00 to 22:00 for the entire Zlín Region, the east of the Moravian-Silesian Region and the south-eastern part of the South Moravian Region.

According to meteorologists, it can rain up to 40 liters of water per square meter, so there is a risk of flooding of lower-lying places such as cellars or underpasses. Gusts of wind can break tree branches, and hail and lightning can also be a danger.

The rare occurrence of strong storms is also threatening on Monday in southwestern Bohemia. Warnings valid from Monday from 14:00 to 23:00 apply to the South Bohemian, Pilsen and Karlovy Vary regions and also to the southwestern part of the Ústí nad Labem and Central Bohemia regions. There will also be a threat of hail in addition to isolated torrential rains and gusts of wind can break branches.

Storms accompanied by heavy rain hit part of the Czech Republic on Friday afternoon. Firefighters had to intervene in hundreds of cases in connection with storms, mainly in the Pardubice, Hradec Králové, Olomouc and Central Bohemia regions and in Prague.
