As part of the partnership between Montpellier Handball and New York City Team Handball Club, David Degouy, Assistant Coach of the professional team and Head of the MHB Academy, will be in New York from December 27 to 29 to lead a handball course.
TRAIN LIKE A PRO! Montpellier Handball is exported! From December 27 to 29, 2021, David Degouy, assistant coach of the professional team and Head of the MHB Academy, will represent the club in New York where he will lead a training course for adults.
Intended for everyone, the objective of this “training camp” is to allow handball fans living in the United States and Canada to come and participate in a course where they can train like a professional team. David Degouy will apply the MHB training methods so that the participants put themselves, for 3 days, in the shoes of a professional player.
LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP
This winter “training camp” lays the foundations for this relationship between the two clubs who consider their collaboration as a “long-term handball partnership for a better future”, in other words a long-term handball partnership for a better future.
“The American federation approached us to get to know a little better how we work and to be inspired by the French model. It then seemed natural to us to open the doors to them and discuss things. We also certainly have a lot to learn from the American model. In terms of high level, training for young people and in many sports, they have proven their worth, ”said David Degouy in 2019.
It goes without saying that the two clubs have a lot to learn from each other and this partnership has everything to last.

The New York City THC or New York City Team Handball Club was founded in 1973 and today participates in 2 competitions: the Northeast Team Handball League and the American D1.
The current coach is Richard Kluz.

MHB ACADEMY
Since 1996 (date of creation of the training center), more than 70 players have gone through the training center, more than 50 have signed a professional player contract upon their release and more than 25 players have signed their first pro contract at MHB .
Montpellier Handball is a benchmark in terms of training. With major European ambitions for the years to come, the MHB has made the training of young people its main focus. The MHB ACADEMY is proof of this! Its guiding principle: excellence.
For 2 seasons, 80 players / year have now joined the MHB Academy and to welcome them, 5 sectors with a well-oiled and arduous selection process: the “Under 15s excellence (D1) and honor (D2)” is the anchor point, then the Under-17s Occitanie, the under-18 nationals and the Nationale 1 follow the march.
