Montpellier gives heart. Before welcoming the Enfoirés in January, for their comeback on stage in front of the public, another charity event will shine on the city this weekend. Less known to the general public, Z Event will bring together 52 gamers to benefit Action Against Hunger. Created in 2016 in Montpellier, this annual meeting brings together every year for 50 hours on Twitch the cream of online video game hosts (Gotaga, Joueur du grenier, Domingo, Michou etc.).
Followed on the Internet by millions of spectators, this video game marathon collects increasingly large sums with each edition: 1 million euros for Médecin sans Frontières in 2018; 3.5 million for the Institut Pasteur in 2019; 5.7 million for Amnesty International in 2020… A world record in the field of streaming, hailed last year on Twitter by Emmanuel Macron: “You can be proud to have shown that by being united and in solidarity we can achieve big things, ”the President tweeted.
An international charitable project
“We do not set any objective in terms of donations, moderates Alexandre Dachary, co-founder of the event, accompanied since the beginning of the adventure by Adrien Nougaret. Every euro raised is already a victory. “The two young people in their thirties, better known in gaming under the names of Dash and ZeratoR, have made Montpellier a stronghold of online video games and Z Event a charitable project of international scope:” As long as we can do it here, by bringing together gamers in our city rather than elsewhere, we will do it, says Alexandre Dachary. This year, the event is a novelty, with a concert this Thursday evening at La Grand Motte, also broadcast live on Twitch. Before the start of the online events, the next day, Friday October 29 at 6 p.m.
