LThe Mons company court on Tuesday validated the Maxi Toys takeover offer made by King Jouet (“New MT”), the latter’s management indicated in a press release. If 117 stores and 826 jobs were saved in Belgium and France, the fact remains that, respectively, six and 34 stores are going by the wayside. On May 18, Maxi Toys, weakened, had requested to be placed in judicial reorganization proceedings by the Mons company court.
The offer from the main shareholder King Jouet, via a new entity called “New MT”, proposed the takeover of 95 out of 129 stores in France, 20 of 26 in Belgium, and two city stores. The Belgian Maxi Toys plant and the Houdeng-Goegnies warehouse are assured of the continuity of their activity, King Jouet underlines.
