Monitoring DHF Transmission in Bengkulu Regencies: Provincial Government Takes Action

The Provincial Government of Bengkulu continues to intensively monitor the condition of the two regencies regarding the development of the Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) transmission situation.

“The case that occurred in Mukomuko Regency, we have taken immediate action efforts, we have gone down to Mukomuko twice, then the central team also did the same thing, and we held a zoom meeting,” said Head of the Bengkulu Provincial Health Office Herwan Antoni in Bengkulu, Thursday.

According to him, all regencies and cities in Bengkulu Province are actually being monitored for DHF. However, the DHF cases found at this time were in Mukomuko and South Bengkulu Regencies.

“Yesterday there was also a report on an incident in South Bengkulu Regency, and we are also doing the same thing to suppress dengue cases,” he said.

Herwan Antoni asked the public to actively participate in monitoring and supervising the surrounding environment so that it does not become a breeding ground for mosquitoes carrying the DHF virus.

“We from the province encourage all regencies/cities to anticipate an increase in DHF cases. With the change in seasons, summer is quite high and then there is also rain which has the potential to collect rainwater, nesting sites and breeding of disease-carrying mosquitoes,” he said.

Communities need to prevent the breeding of dengue fever-carrying mosquitoes by cleaning the environment, burning or burying used items that can collect rainwater.

“Clean the water storage containers, and ensure that they destroy or stockpile trash that can hold water. Regency/city governments can also help the community in the form of fogging, or eradicating mosquito larvae,” he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) dispatched a Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) Vector Working Group Team to Mukomuko District, Bengkulu Province to collect data and information regarding the alleged death of a family due to DHF.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia went to Mukomuko because there was an extraordinary incident (KLB) in that area, namely one family died allegedly due to dengue. One such family, namely Firmasyah (65), Rislaini (56), Herwilin (34), and one baby who is still in Herwilin’s womb.

However, of the four people in one family who died, one person tested positive for DHF, one person was suspected of DHF, and two people were negative for DHF.
