Monday Night Recap: Saints Win and Steelers Victorious in Defensive Battle

That used to be one Monday night.

Panthers – Saints 17:20

The Saints win reads more succinctly than the course of the game felt: The Saints basically led the entire game from the start and only conceded the garbage time touchdown at the end offensively completely harmless Panther:

Not that the Saints are apart of this one deep catch by Chris Olave would have been inspiring or something similar. There were four long drives. Derek Carr conceded between two long bombs for Olave and Rashid Shaheed also four sacks. Continuity actually brought in a bit of the running game via Taysom Hill, which the Panthers had no control at all (9 runs for 75 yards) and made several 1st downs. But there was also a lot of idleness in the second and third quarters.

However, anything better than what the Panthers delivered. With all ambitions Bryce Young: The man has this lame offense no chance. The O-line only just holds up against it, the receivers are never open. The individual inferiority is not concealed by particularly imaginative route combinations.

Young is mobile and tries to create at will, but that also led to a lot of incompletions and a long scramble tonight vier Sacks.

The Drive-Chart der Panthers confirms the impression which Whisker the Panther actually is: Before the final quarter, almost nothing happened, and especially nothing deeper. Rookie Jonathan Mingo had eight targets but only three catches for 26 yards.

With the score at 13-6, Young collected a sack in an attempt to gain time to make a play on a viable third down, and the Panthers had to kick to make it 13-9. New Orleans countered with a TD drive and the game was over.

Overall, the game pretty much has All preseason expectations of both teams confirmed. New Orleans not exciting in the first suit, but good enough to beat such lower-class teams. Carolina, on the other hand, is poor at the skill positions, which is why Young’s rookie season is not getting off the ground at all.

Steelers – Browns 26:22

Hardly any big plays and a lot of defense in the first game. The second game offered even less offensebut all the more big plays – especially in the Defense. Pittsburgh wins its first game of the season against the hated Browns, but nobody could feel good after the game.

I mean: That’s it Efficiency of both offenses in this game:

The game started with a pick-six in the very first snap against Deshaun Watson, whose guru has no idea what he’s doing, but it obviously doesn’t do much good. That first play was a foreshadowing of what was to come, as Watson delivered a game from hell:

22/40 for 235 yards 6 sacks, 25 yards 1 interception returned for a touchdown 2 fumbles, both lost -22.0 Expected Points Added

That’s right not a single sensible one Pass that would have added value to the Browns, and that killed the Browns that day. It would only have made a small difference, because despite all the badness of the Browns: Pittsburgh’s offense was many times over worse.

Apart from the big passing play that ultimately brought victory for George Pickens that was devastating. Kenny Pickett went 15/30 for 222 yards with an INT and picked up two sacks. Running game gained 55 yards on 21 attempts. 4/14 on 3rd downs. Nine (!) 1st downs in the whole game.

The Steelers did more points with their defense (14, two returned turnovers for a touchdown) than with their offense (12 points), and so it was no wonder that early in the game Fire Matt Canada-Shouts rang out from the stands.

Plus such inexplicable bolts on kickoff and terrible in-game management Mike Tomlin (3rd & 2 kick, no timeout before halftime and wasted challenge). When even the audience in Pittsburgh no longer enjoys such things Slugfests then you know it has struck 13…

So summary: The Steelers won this thanks to a sad opponent 4:2 Turnovers and two defensive touchdowns. And that can’t make anyone particularly optimistic about the rest of the season.

Cleveland also has its back against the wall. Watson remains a foreign object in this offense, and will Head coach Kevin Stefanski Sooner or later it will cost your head, because Watson is worth 230 million. guaranteed no matter how sick you feel, it cannot be canceled.

To make matters worse, several key players had to leave the game. RB Nick Chubb apparently seriously injured his knee and is expected to be out for the rest of the season. In the secondary, several players had to like CB1 Ward or CB2 Newsome into the cabin.

In the end, the upside of both teams is 8-9, and that won’t be enough in the AFC even if the Bengals completely fail.
