Molokhia Scandal: Syrian Ministry of Health Closes Yarmouk Hospital in Daraa

Because of the “molokhia scandal”, the Syrian Ministry of Health announced in an official statement last Tuesday on its Facebook page the closure of Yarmouk Hospital in the city of Daraa with red wax.

A video clip had been widely leaked in the past few days from the baby incubators section, showing “molokhia” vegetables on the tables in the section, and it seems that one of the workers spread them on the tables in order to dry them, while there are a number of newborn babies in the same room.

According to the ministry, “The decision comes after the end of a committee assigned by the ministry to conduct a field survey of the reality of work in a number of hospitals in Daraa Governorate, as the result of the report stated that a number of technical and health violations were confirmed in the private Yarmouk Hospital.”

And the Ministry continued in its statement: “The Ministry of Health calls upon all health facilities that the relevant departments in the Ministry and its directorates follow up their work and their declared and unannounced visits to check compliance with laws and regulations and take the necessary penalties against the violating facility according to the legal principles governing their work and the license that was granted to these facilities.” (lbci)
