MLS: Clément Diop signs a contract

Former CF Montreal goalkeeper Clément Diop will continue his career with Inter Miami CF.

On Tuesday, the Major League Soccer (MLS) club said the 28-year-old Frenchman had initialed a one-season deal. This deal also includes an option for the team in 2023.

“Clément is an experienced professional and we were able to see his talent up close, since he has been training with us since September. We are very happy to see him join our group of goalkeepers, ”Inter Miami CF sporting director Chris Henderson said in a statement from his organization.

At his request, Diop saw CF Montreal terminate his contract last August. Holder to start the 2021 campaign, his fourth with the Quebec club, he was injured in June and James Pantemis stole his position.

In three and a half seasons with Montreal, Diop played 30 games for a total of 2,700 minutes. He also had seven shutouts. The Parisian had previously been a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy for two seasons.

Bush remains in Ohio

Another former goalkeeper of the Montreal organization has obtained a new contractual agreement. Evan Bush has signed a new one-year agreement with the Columbus Crew, the team with which he has played since the last campaign.

“Evan is a talented and experienced MLS goaltender,” general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said on the Crew website. Evan is a passionate professional who brings competition and depth to our goalies. ”

In 2021, Bush appeared in six games for the Columbus team, making seven saves and one shutout.

The 35-year-old American was secured by the Crew in a deal with the Vancouver Whitecaps in December 2020. He had played only one season with the team from British Columbia, after spending nearly 10 seasons with the club of Montreal, which was called the Impact at the time.

Bush got involved with the formation of the Belle Province in 2011, when it was still playing in the United Soccer League. He had been one of the few athletes to make the jump with the club in MLS.
