The weeks to report to Spring Training are over and the New York Yankees keep moving their pieces, and now they are close to closing a deal to enlist the services of gardener Greg Allen, as reported by MLB Network correspondent Joel Sherman.

Sherman explained that to make this deal, The ‘Bronx Bombers’ would send left-hander James Reeves to the San Diego Padres, who was selected by New York in the 10th round of the 2015 Draft.

Allen was designated for assignment by San Diego last week to make roster space for newly signed Ha-Seong Kim. Allen came to the Padres as part of the trade with the Indians for starter Mike Clevinger, but Allen participated in only one meeting with the Friars.

Allen stands out more for his defense than for his batAs in each of the last four seasons, he was rated above average on the Statcast Outs Above Average metric and had an offensive line of .239 batting percentage, with eight home runs. Seventh Entry
