MLB Recap (National) April 16: Braves bats resound in New York

Ian Anderson held the Padres to one point so far in 6e inning and Matt Olson hit one of three home runs for the Atlanta Braves, who beat San Diego 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Anderson (1-1) allowed two hits and struck out seven in 5.2 innings.

Padres starter Nick Martinez (0-1) was stung by the long ball. Ozzie Albies hit a solo home run on his second pitch of the game. He now has three in as many games in this series.

Olson and Marcell Ozuna also hit the long ball against Martinez, who was charged with four runs in five innings. Manny Piña could also have homered, but outfielder Trent Grisham made a sensational catch on the fence in the second inning.

Jurickson Profar hit a home run on Anderson in the second inning, and Grisham hit a solo hit in the eighth inning. The Padres have lost four times in their last five games.

Kenley Janson pitched the ninth inning for his second save of the season.

Outfielder Wil Myers (right thumb pain) missed Saturday’s game and will miss Sunday’s game with an injury that showed up in Friday night’s game.
