The city of Zurich published the new traffic concept for the “Zoo Zurich” area on Wednesday. The new concept aims to reduce major traffic jams and relieve the district in general. The traffic concept met with mixed feelings in the Zurich municipal council. The FDP councilor Yasmin Bourgeois is behind the concept, but would like to go one step further. The concept includes, among other things, a multi-storey car park, which combines all existing parking spaces and is intended to reduce traffic chaos.
However, Yasmin Bourgeois demands that the current alternative parking spaces, such as the one at the Dolder, also remain in place. It also supports the cable car project, which is intended to connect the zoo grounds with the Zurich Stettbach S-Bahn station. The neighboring town of Dübendorf is opposed to this project. The municipal councilor of the Greens, Balz Bürgisser, also supports the cable car project, but opposes the new parking garage. With regard to the net zero goal, one should not support private transport, but public transport.
