Mistakes in prices at Kiwi: – It’s confusing

The popular marzipan sausages had a price of 37.40 on the poster in the Kiwi shop then The online newspaper checked prices on Wednesday at 8.

But at the checkout the price was significantly lower: 28.90. It means that the price on the poster was almost 30 percent too high.

– This is jarring. It contributes to confusion, says “Gjerrigknarken” Rune Nikolaisen. He is a blogger and above average interested in good offers.

But it is precisely good offers that can be missed if the price posters have an error and the price is far too high.

– It’s good that you can get a surprise at the till, but I expect the prices to be correct in the store. I think most people do too, he says.

Many errors

This was also the case with several other items that were checked. Several priced the poster too high:

  • Gingerbread: 5.3 percent for high price.
  • Hamar and Lillehammer Christmas soda in a glass bottle with sugar: 14.4 per cent too high a price.
  • Hamar and Lillehammer Christmas soda in a glass bottle without sugar; 15.5 percent high price.
  • Small Christmas marzipan pig: 31.8 per cent too high a price.

Nettavisen checked the price of 12 items, six of which only had price information on a paper poster at Kiwi. The others had digital price tags.

You can also find paper posters in Rema 1000 and Extra’s stores. But in this random check, only digital price tags on the items were checked in these stores. An exception was clementines at Rema 1000, but here the price poster was correct.

– Hectic

– We are in a crazy hectic period in our stores with frequent price changes, goods to be replenished and many customers to be served, says communications director at Kiwi Kristine Arvin to Nettavisen.

– Our 13,600 employees make a fantastic effort to have correct price posters on all goods at all times, she says.

Gjerrig addict Rune Nikolaisen believes the chains must take action.

– I feel sorry for the employees now in the run-up to Christmas when it goes by so quickly. But the chains should take steps to avoid this, he says.

He believes the chains must find some new systems or they will have to hire more people.

– Some stores have scanners so that the customer can scan the goods themselves and then get the price in the scanner. Maybe more people should have it?

– Must be correct

The Norwegian Consumer Protection Authority is crystal clear on the importance of having correct prices.

– It follows from the price information regulations that traders must disclose the selling price of a product so that the prices can be easily seen, says deputy director of the Norwegian Consumer Protection Authority to Nettavisen. She speaks on a general basis.

– The selling price must be stated as clearly on or in the immediate vicinity of the item, she says.

And the prices must be reliable.

– The prices must be correct, she says.

– Of course!

According to Arvin in Kiwi, there are many price changes now.

– Now before Christmas there can therefore be thousands of price changes every day, and in many cases several changes to the same product within a short time, she says.

She says they update posters as quickly as possible.

– Customers can be confident that we are doing the best we can, she says and adds:

– Of course, it is important to us that the prices on the posters match, so the customer knows what to pay, says the director of communications at Kiwi.
