“Mission: Impossible 7”: Tom Cruise Delivers Thrilling Action and Unbeatable Entertainment

That a film series still hasn’t worn out after seven parts is an absolute exception. “Mission: Impossible” even stands for the exact opposite – the action franchise with Tom Cruise has been getting better with every film for years!

27 years after the first film, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One” is coming to the cinema (start: July 13). Tom Cruise is now 61 years old, but he’s not shifting down a gear. The superstar still does most of his stunts himself – that’s how close he is to the series, which he now even produces himself. The motorcycle jump from a mountain cliff hundreds of meters high is the absolute highlight of the seventh part.

But it’s not just the spectacle that makes “Mission: Impossible 7” so worth seeing. Here you can find out why the film can still be traded as the best action film of the year in a cinema year that already brought us “John Wick – Chapter 4”.

“Mission: Impossible 7”: Tom Cruise in top form

While the Bond makers are still desperately looking for a 007 successor to Daniel Craig, Tom Cruise continues to deliver reliably as Ethan Hunt. Exotic locations, fast-paced action – and evil technology that could destroy the world. All the ingredients for an exciting summer blockbuster are contained in “Mission: Impossible 7”.

The fact that these elements harmonize perfectly in the end is thanks to Christopher McQuarrie. The filmmaker has been in the director’s chair since the fifth part (“Rogue Nation”, 2015) and now knows exactly what makes a successful “Mission: Impossible” film.

That’s a big part of the action, of course. A car chase in Rome, a fight on the roof of the moving Orient Express or the already mentioned motorcycle stunt on the mountain cliff – everything is perfectly choreographed and not boring for a second. And that’s a special achievement: At 163 minutes, “Mission: Impossible 7” is the longest film in the series! Thanks to a brisk narrative pace, the flick doesn’t feel that long at all.

More than just action spectacles

But “Mission: Impossible” is not ONLY action. The script is full of twists and turns, and the viewer is kept hooked to the end. The screenplay doesn’t shy away from drastic decisions in relation to some characters you’ve grown fond of.

Speaking of characters, Tom Cruise may be in the spotlight, but without the cast around him, the films wouldn’t even begin to work as well. The relationship with his IMF partners Simon Pegg and Vingh Rames is an important emotional anchor of the series and enriches the film immensely in several scenes. And newcomer Hayley Atwell can absolutely hold a candle to Cruise in the action scenes.

More news:

Merely the villain comes across as a bit generic, but that doesn’t stand out too negatively in the overall impression. “Mission: Impossible 7” is one thing above all: fun! And that continuously.

Perfect blockbuster entertainment

While the dark, ultra-violent three-hour orgy of violence called “John Wick – Chapter 4” was actually soporific towards the end, “Mission: Impossible 7” gets the pulse racing non-stop – and as a fan of the series you can hardly get the grin off your face.

The next summer with “Dead Reckoning – Part 2” can’t come soon enough!
