(CNN Spanish) — Mirtha Legrand, an emblematic figure of Argentine television, will be intervened this Tuesday in Buenos Aires. The operation is already scheduled and the 96-year-old actress and presenter herself announced it a week ago on Twitter.
“I want to tell you that in order to remain active as I like, and because I always bet on life, I decided together with my doctors to install a state-of-the-art pacemaker that adequately regulates my heart rate, something that I had already been discussing after the placement of stents a long time ago.
In his network publication, Legrand added that the operation is ambulatory.
In another part of the statement, Legrand says: “I want to thank everyone who is interested in my health at this time and my family who accompanies and supports me at all times. I ask you for peace of mind and not mix my professional issues that have nothing to do with this decision. Thank you! I keep betting on life!”

The surgery comes when Legrand negotiates his professional continuity on television. Nacho Viale, his grandson and producer of the already legendary program “Having lunch with Mirtha Legrand”, assured days ago in a tweet: “Nothing puts anything on hold. Everything is perfect and programmed and outpatient. The wait is because there is no negotiation that advances with the channel last year (Channel 13), not for this”.
