A federal judge condemned a 50 years in prison a Juan Carlos Moreno, aka “El Larry”, designated as the material author the murder of the journalist Miroslava Breach Velducea, registered on 23 of March of the year 2017 in the state of Chihuahua.
The General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) reported this Saturday that the criminal responsibility of the “Larry” in the illicit, which was committed with premeditation, treachery and advantage, and after leaving intimidating messages to the detriment of a journalist for the exercise of her freedom of expression.
After the oral trial, the Judge of the Prosecution Court, valued the evidence provided by the FGR, through the Special Prosecutor for Attention to Crimes Committed Against Freedom of Expression (FEADLE), and determined the full responsibility of the sentenced in the homicide of the journalist.
The agency added that this resolution is the highest penalty, until now, that has been imposed in this type of crimes, which represents a previous one in investigations of crimes committed against freedom of expression.
For its part, civic organization Civic Proposal, which has accompanied the judicial case of Miroslava Breach, also issued a statement, in which it states that the sentence “represents an important precedent in the fight against impunity for crimes against journalists in the most violent country against the press ”.
The civil organization He also pointed out that the arrest of other of the material authors crime, in addition to carrying out the investigation against the masterminds and clarify the possible involvement of officials of the current government of Chihuahua.
Also, Civic Proposal stressed that they won’t stop until all those responsible for the murder of the communicator are brought to justice.
Miroslava Breach was a correspondent for the newspaper La Jornada in the state Chihuahua and was recognized for her research on the alleged ties of the political power with the organized crime in the entity.
