Jakarta – A unique phenomenon occurs in California, United States. An iPhone 12 cellphone still turns on even though it has been submerged for months.
The cellphone was found by a diver while cleaning in the river. Reporting from detikInetthis diver named Lee was cleaning the Stanislaus River on November 10, 2023.
At that time, Lee found the cellphone among the rocks and was covered in algae. Lee then took the cellphone. He then cleaned it and left it to dry for several days.
Miraculously, six days later Lee tried to activate the cellphone. And apparently, the cellphone was still on and then he connected it to the charger.
Lee was able to access the iPhone because it didn’t have a passcode. He then looked at the owner’s information from the last photo gallery taken and contacts.
Interestingly, the last content seen from the gallery is content taken from the river where the cellphone was found.
The video is known to have been taken on September 4. This indicates that the iPhone 12 has been submerged for three months. Lee himself has not yet found out who the owner of the cellphone is. However, he had planned to contact several numbers in his contacts.
Looking at the specifications, the iPhone 12 itself already has IP68 certification. This means that the cellphone can be immersed under water to a depth of six meters for 30 minutes.
Even so, in some cases iPhones and cellphones can be waterproof for longer. As long as the gasket is not damaged.
The gasket on an iPhone can be damaged by dropping it, being repeatedly submerged in water, or being exposed to steam. So it’s best not to drown the cellphone on purpose because it’s not certain that the gasket is still in perfect condition.
