Minsa sanctions Dr. Marta Roa with B/.6,000.00 for disseminating false information about the anticovid vaccine

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) sanctioned Dr. Marta Roa De Gracia de Salteiro with B/.6,000.00 for statements in alternative media in which she attributed vaccination against COVID-19 death of children, adults and health professionals Health.

“In these statements, Dr. Roa encourages the population not to be vaccinated against COVID-19; she assures that there are more than a thousand deaths due to the vaccine In Panama; that there are deaths of children and adults due to the vaccine; that healthy people are dying after applying the vaccine…among other indications given without providing scientific evidence,” says the statement from the Ministry of Health.

On the other hand, the Minsa determined that the doctor violated the measure of mandatory use of masks in a protest in the Supreme Court of Justice, an act with which in turn incited the population not to use them.

According to the report, the declarations were made on November 15 and 16, 2021 and January 21, 2022.

According to the General Directorate of Health, this act constitutes an infringement of current health regulations. Resolution 0246 of February 14, 2022 indicates that it failed to comply with numerals 8, 9 and 10 of article 85 of Law 66 of November 10, 1947.

The powers and duties of the National Department of Public Health, in the national health order:

9° Order the isolation, quarantine, observation and surveillance of every person, even if they were in apparent good health, when the absence of the measure constitutes real or potential damage to the health of the community…

10° Adopt emergency measures that are essential and cannot be postponed in the event of an epidemic or other public calamities…
