Sportico reports that Glen Taylor, owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has engaged the Raine Group, which specializes in advising on the buying and selling of large corporations, with a view to a possible sale of the franchise. The owner confirmed this to The Athletic and there are already quite a few people interested.
“Interested people have inquired but want to move the franchise. They are therefore not candidates. We have been very clear on the subject. We told everyone that in order for this to sell, it has to stay in Minnesota. ” Taylor
Taylor explained that Raine had approached him because several people are interested in this buyout. If this offer was refused, the group has other candidates, and the files are currently under review.
Among those interested there is a certain Kevin Garnett. The latter announced on Instagram that he is part of one of the groups of investors eager to buy the franchise.
Taylor, 79, bought Wolves in 1995 for $ 88 million and according to Forbes it’s estimated at $ 1.38 billion. He would like at least $ 1.2 billion.
