The Ministry of Education and Technical Education revealed the statistics of students, teachers, and schools for the current academic year 2023 and 2024, as the Ministry published through its official website the pre-university education statistics booklet, explaining that the number of students recorded this year was 25 million and 657 thousand and 984 students, while the number of teachers reached 25 million and 657 thousand and 984 students. 922,628 teachers, in addition to 61,512 public and private schools, with a total of 556,888 classrooms.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Reda Hegazy, stressed that Egypt’s Vision 2023, and the vision of the Ministry of Education, targets a student capable of competitiveness, and that what we are seeing today is a translation of this vision, and achieving it with the least means and capabilities, in light of the challenges facing the educational system, indicating that Activating the partnership between school students, research teachers, universities, and civil society enriches the educational process and achieves the desired goals in developing the educational system.
The Minister pointed out that one of the pillars of the Ministry of Education’s strategic plan 2024/2029 is the partnership between the Ministry, universities, and civil society, noting that this project achieves one of the goals of the Ministry’s strategic plan, which is learning for life and learning for the future, stressing that the goal of education is not just obtaining a certificate. However, in addition to it, it is necessary to obtain the necessities of life, and many skills that the student must possess.
The Minister explained that we are targeting the educated teacher, the innovative teacher, and the human teacher, who leaves an impact on students, evaluates them, and gives them motivation to learn, noting that the presence of cohesion and exchange of dialogue between American University students and school students enriches the experiences that we aim for our students to obtain.
