The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) held a gala dinner for the 78th anniversary of the TNI after holding the Twilight Parade ceremony. Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto praised the retired military officers who attended, from the 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Try Sutrisno to the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
A gala dinner commemorating the 78th anniversary of the TNI was held at the Ministry of Defense office, Central Jakarta, Monday (9/10/2023). Apart from General (Ret.) Try Sutrisno and General (Ret.) SBY, also present at the event were TNI General (Ret.) Agum Gumelar, and TNI General (Ret.) Wiranto, Democratic Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
“We always remember that the TNI is a national army, and the people’s army and fighting soldiers are what the founders of the TNI proved and we also feel proud that the TNI always proves that the TNI puts the interests of the nation first above all other interests too,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo felt proud to be present among his seniors in the TNI. He praised the TNI figures as important figures in the TNI who fought for the nation’s interests.
“I am proud to present among us TNI figures who played a role in history, Pak Try Sutrisno, Pak Wiranto, Pak SBY, Pak Agum Gumelar. They are historical figures. I think in world history there are few examples of soldiers who stepped down from their role. politics voluntarily and prioritizing the interests of the nation and fighting for democracy and reform,” he said.
The chairman of Gerindra also feels proud to be part of the TNI. He considered these TNI figures to be figures who continue to guard democracy.
“This is a matter of pride for all of us and I am proud that I am part of that process. They are the ones behind the scenes who are overseeing the Reformation process so that we can enjoy the democracy that we have now and to this day they continue to set an example in guarding democracy,” he said.
